Tropical Weather Discussion for the Western North Pacific between
the Equator and 25N from 130E to 180. The following information is
based on recent satellite imagery/data, weather observations, radar,
and meteorological analysis.

...SPECIAL FEATURES...

TROPICAL CYCLONES...
Tropical Storm Man-yi continues to become better organized, as
evident by good outflow aloft in any direction and robust
convection cycling around the low-level circulation center. The
last report from the Joint Typhoon Warning Center has the system
located at 10.5N 132.9E. The maximum sustained winds have
increased to 70 mph, with a movement of due west (270 degrees) at
16 mph. Man-yi is forecast to become a typhoon by tonight as it
makes a gradual turn to the west-northwest.

...OTHER WEATHER SYSTEMS...

TRADE-WIND TROUGHS...
A trade-wind trough is crossing the Marianas, with widely
scattered showers and thunderstorms. This feature will continue to
move westward over the next several days.

...ITCZ...
An active ITCZ stretches from just northeast from Kapingmarangi
to between Pohnpei and Kosrae, continuing east- northeast to near
Kwajalein before crossing the Date Line near 11N. Widespread cloud
cover with embedded showers and a few thunderstorms are prevalent
near this feature, which will continue to move slowly west the
next few days.
