...Elevated Flood and Landslide Risk with Prolonged Rainfall
Tuesday through Saturday...

A prolonged period of widespread showers is forecast to impact the
Samoa region beginning Tuesday and continuing through Thursday,
with rainfall intensity and coverage expected to increase
significantly by Friday and into Saturday. An active trough
causing this extended duration of rainfall raises the potential
for localized and widespread flooding, particularly in low-lying
and poor drainage areas.

Peak impacts are anticipated Friday through Saturday, when the
trough is most active. Rainfall totals over the event period may
exceed thresholds for flash flooding, especially in areas that
have already experienced saturated soil conditions in previous
weeks. In addition, landslides will be possible in mountainous
terrain, especially as strong winds are also expected this week.
Some uncertainty remains, and it is possible for timing of peak
impacts to change in future updates.
