.Discussion...
The high pressure system that holds breezy weather over the
Islands will continue to produce southeast trades through the new
week. Meanwhile, latest satellite loops shows a trough to the
north edging close the territory. It seems model data struggles
with the strength of the high pressure system as it was
anticipated to move farther east Monday. However, it is now
expected to linger just southeast through midweek leaving the
Samoa Island chain at the boundary between the trough and the high
pressure system. This means showers could be heavy at times with
the trough and breezy with the high pressure system.

All in all, the trend for showers is still forecast to increase
Sunday Morning and remain at numerous rain through at least
midweek. The potential for flooding however, is not as evident
today for the forecast period. Moisture and instability will
finally decrease Thursday through the end of the week as the
trough weakens in the area.

Latest wave heights observed at the Aunu`u PacIOOS buoy remains in
the 10 to 12 foot range. A High Surf Warning is still in effect as
wave heights are forecast to peak today due to the prolonged windy
pattern. Hazardous seas are expected to persist through Sunday,
easing to advisory levels by Monday. Winds will slightly diminish
to 20 knots by this time, though these winds would still produce
elevated waves through at least midweek.
