Area Forecast Discussion
National Weather Service Pago Pago AS
142 PM SST Tue Oct 7 2025

.Short term [tonight through Thursday night]...
Shower and thunderstorm activity has cleared in the area through
the day today, bringing a break in the flooding threat. Passing
showers remain possible but should not lead to flash flooding for
the next few hours. Heavier shower and thunderstorm activity is
observed on satellite to the east of the territory. This activity
is expected to drift west and over the territory Wednesday through
Thursday bringing heavy showers and the potential for
thunderstorms and flash flooding. Winds out of the southeast will
briefly peak as high as 25 mph on Wednesday.

.Long term [Friday through Tuesday]...
After the heavy showers and thunderstorms move out of the area by
Thursday night, the trough is expected to become focused to the
north and west of the territory, which will decrease rainfall late
week into Saturday. Guidance indicates the potential for the
trough to spread back over the territory Sunday into early next
week, bringing another period of increased rain chances. Trade
winds out of the east to southeast should increase 15 to 25 mph
early next week.

.Marine...
Seas continue to remain below Small Craft Advisory threshold, at a
steady 5 to 7 feet. This will change Wednesday, as a fresh breeze
builds seas 7 to 9 feet. Heavy showers and thunderstorms may
further elevate seas and lead to more unpredictable ocean
conditions at times Wednesday through Thursday. Seas are forecast
to peak at 8 to 10 feet late week through Saturday. Period times
are expected to be short with no significant swells expected,
this will lead to the large wind-driven seas being particulary
rough and choppy.
