603 FXZS60 NSTU 080042 AFDPPG Area Forecast Discussion National Weather Service Pago Pago AS 142 PM SST Fri Feb 7 2025 .Discussion... A ridge over the Islands is expected to strengthen during the weekend. Although fair weather is typically associated with a ridge, the latest satellite data via GREMLIN Radar Emulation indicates signals of showers embedded within the trade wind flow. This is due to enhanced sea surface temperatures. Showers that develop under these conditions are generally fast-developing and short-lived. Additionally, hot air temperatures may be cooled as these showers pass through the area. Hence, temperatures around 90 degrees F and scattered showers is possible tonight through Sunday. Furthermore, model solutions suggest that easterly trade winds will increase as the ridge strengthens tonight through Sunday. Winds of 10 to 20 mph are possible during this time. However, by Sunday night, winds will gradually diminish as the ridge moves further southeast. A gentle breeze is expected to dominate the area, with a similar hot pattern persisting through the end of the new week. && .Marine... No significant winds or swells are currently impacting coastal waters. However, with the anticipated increase in winds tonight tonight, borderline choppy seas are possible with 15 knot winds. Will continue to monitor windspeeds if it reaches the small craft advisory threshold of 20 knots, but if that isn`t met, ocean conditions are not expected to be as smooth sailing as we have seen these past few days. After the weekend, calm ocean conditions will return with the gentle breeze. && .PPG WATCHES/WARNINGS/ADVISORIES... None && $$ TM
