The latest satellite imageries with GREMLIN applications (composite radar reflectivity) clearly show a moist bounday layer lingering just north of the Samoa Islands. Model data shows the aforementioned boundary layer held in place by a high pressure system to the south as open-cell cumuli clouds moves across the territory in waves. This feature will likely dominate local weather patterns for tonight through the beginning of the new week as it brings moderate trade winds with embedded passing showers from time to time. By Tuesday, winds will slightly shift east, as the aforementioned high pressure system continues to migrate east. Also, a shortwave trough from the east will be pushed closer and over the territory by this time frame. Expect moderate easterlies and embedded showers to prevail for the rest of the forecast period. Will continue to monitor as uncertainties in model data are far greater after 3 days of data resolutions. && .Marine... Data from the PacIOOS buoy to the west (King-Poloa) has been reporting seas around 4 to 6 feet with peak periods around 10 seconds. With moderate trade winds prevailing across the area, models are showing combined seas (swells & wind waves) gradually building to at least 8 to 10 feet by Saturday night. This is mainly due to a large south swell moving into the area together with the trade winds. Models are showing seas easing below advisory thresholds by at least Monday. Additionally, swell periods of more than 10 seconds is expected and will likely enhance surfs and strong rip currents for this time frame. This will prompt the issuance of advisories for small crafts and high surfs. && .PPG WATCHES/WARNINGS/ADVISORIES... NONE && $$ JTAllen
