...AIR QUALITY ALERT IN EFFECT UNTIL MIDNIGHT EST TONIGHT...

The New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection has issued an
Air Quality Action day for Particulate Matter (PM2.5).Sensitive
individuals, including those with heart or lung disease, the
elderly, and the young should limit strenuous activities and the
amount of time active outdoors. Levels of fine particulate will rise
into the Unhealthy range for Sensitive Groups (USG) category in
northern and northeastern portions of New Jersey today and into the
evening hours due to the wildfire smoke transport from localized
wildfires in far northern New Jersey and southern New York state.
North-northwesterly winds throughout the day will continue to
transport wildfire smoke to the southeast as high pressure builds
into the region, along with sunny skies and cooler temperatures.

An Air Quality Advisory means that air quality within the region may
approach or exceed unhealthy standards. For more information on
current and forecast concentrations of ground- level ozone and fine
particulates, visit www.airnow.gov or www.state.nj.us/dep/airmon/ or
call the New Jersey Bureau of Air Monitoring at 609-292-0138
