Issued by NWS Pendleton, OR
707 FNUS56 KPDT 041412 FWFPDT Fire Weather Planning Forecast for NE Oregon and SE Washington National Weather Service Pendleton OR 712 AM PDT Fri Jul 4 2025 ...THUNDERSTORMS OVER CENTRAL AND EASTERN OREGON TODAY... .DISCUSSION...Showers and embedded thunderstorms will continue tracking northward this morning across central and eastern Oregon. Later this afternoon, another round of more robust thunderstorms is forecast, focused primarily on southern and eastern Deschutes, Crook, and Grant counties. Afternoon thunderstorms will be capable of producing strong, gusty outflow winds up to 60 mph, small hail, and locally heavy downpours. Chances of wetting rain through the evening are medium-high (50-80 percent for the Blue Mountains) with low-medium chances (30-60 percent) for the rest of central and eastern Oregon. ***Thunderstorms imply strong gusty winds*** ***Winds are 20 foot 10 minute averages*** ***CWR-chance of wetting rain 0.10 or greater*** ***Ventilation Index is derived from the transport wind multiplied by the mixing height in 100`s of feet. Index categories are a generalized indicator and users are encourage to develop criteria that are suitable and representative of dispersion conditions in their local area of interest.*** Note: Max transport winds may not occur at the same time as max mixing height.
