Issued by NWS Pendleton, OR
130 FNUS56 KPDT 041404 FWFPDT Fire Weather Planning Forecast for NE Oregon and SE Washington National Weather Service Pendleton OR 704 AM PDT Mon Aug 4 2025 .DISCUSSION...Thunderstorms will return this afternoon along the eastern mountains (70-80%) with abundant lightning and wetting rains as well as some isolated dry thunderstorms embedded. Moving into tomorrow, conditions will begin to dry as the pattern shifts to a more westerly direction. Temperatures will remain on the `cooler` side in the upper 70s to low 80s with pockets of upper 80s in the Basin. Conditions will remain dry at the lower elevations with mainly only the mountains seeing showers through Thursday. Daytime RHs will range between 20-30% with pockets below 20 in the Basin and through portions of Central OR. No fire weather concerns at this time. ***Thunderstorms imply strong gusty winds*** ***Winds are 20 foot 10 minute averages*** ***CWR-chance of wetting rain 0.10 or greater*** ***Ventilation Index is derived from the transport wind multiplied by the mixing height in 100`s of feet. Index categories are a generalized indicator and users are encourage to develop criteria that are suitable and representative of dispersion conditions in their local area of interest.*** Note: Max transport winds may not occur at the same time as max mixing height.
