Hydrologic Statement
National Weather Service Pittsburgh PA
1038 AM EST Sun Jan 19 2025

Past 24 hour precipitation...
Widespread 0.10 to 0.25 inches of precipitation was observed with
up to 0.50 inches recorded in the Upper Monongahela River basin.
Precipitation fell in various forms and timing of rain and snow.

Forecast precipitation for the next 48 hours...
Basin average liquid equivalent of snow is forecast to be up to
0.10 inches over a majority of the Ohio and Allegheny River
basins. The Lower Monongahela River basin should expect 0.10 to
0.25 inches while the Upper Monongahela River basin should expect
0.25 to 0.50 inches with locally higher amounts.

River trends...
Subtle rises up to 1 foot may be seen along the Monongahela River
basin over the next 24 hours. Otherwise, the overall trend shows
area rivers and streams either remaining steady or exhibiting a
slight fall at the 48 and beyond hour time frame.

Please note that ice is beginning to develop along area rivers
and streams, which could alter sensor readings. Additional rapid
ice accumulation is possible today into next week as arctic
air arrives, increasing the potential for ice jams.
