.NEAR TERM...
(Rest of today and tonight)
Issued at 236 PM CST Wed Jan 22 2025

A surface low tracking across the U.S. Great Lakes Region will
continue to push a dry cold front across our area through this
afternoon. Although colder air currently lagging but will see
another round of Canadian-based air coming down off the Central
Plains tonight. Not expecting blustery colder air tonight as
northwest winds should stir the air inhibiting strong radiational
cooling with respect to measurable temperatures. However, wind chill
values will still make it feel well in the teens. Visible satellite
imagery still showing a snowpack across far northern Oklahoma where
it will feel coldest tonight with single digit wind chill values.

.SHORT TERM...
(Thursday through Friday night)
Issued at 236 PM CST Wed Jan 22 2025

Slightly cooler below normal temperatures on Thursday afternoon as
the Southern Plains remains under a cold upper trough for one more
day. Subfreezing cold again Thursday night although less of a wind
chill due to light & variable winds. In addition, decreasing low
cloud cover overnight could enhance radiational cooling with colder
measurable low temperatures areawide in the teens. The upper trough
axis shifts eastward Thursday night as weak ridging starts building
in from the west. Under the ridge, breezy southwest winds increase
by Friday afternoon starting a warming trend as temperatures rebound
closer to seasonably normal (lower to mid 50s).

&&

.LONG TERM...
(Saturday through Tuesday)
Issued at 152 AM CST Wed Jan 22 2025

Another cold front is set to move into northwest Oklahoma on
Saturday, yielding a steeper temperature gradient with highs in the
40s across northwest Oklahoma (behind the front) and warming into
the mid to upper 50s along I-44 into western north Texas (just ahead
of the front around peak heating).

Moisture return will support low chances for rain in southeast
Oklahoma Saturday night into Sunday. With cold air advection and
extensive cloud cover, Sunday`s highs will be restrained to the 40s.

Beyond Sunday, uncertainty increases considerably as models struggle
with how to handle a cut-off low approaching from the western CONUS.
