...COASTAL FLOOD STATEMENT IN EFFECT FROM THIS EVENING THROUGH
LATE TONIGHT...

* WHAT...Less than 1 ft of inundation above ground level expected
  in vulnerable areas near the waterfront and shoreline.

* WHERE...Southern Queens and Southern Nassau Counties.

* WHEN...From this evening through late tonight.

* COASTAL FLOOD IMPACTS...Brief minor flooding of the most
  vulnerable locations near the waterfront and shoreline.

* SHORELINE IMPACTS...Breaking waves of 8 to 12 ft along the Long
  Island beachfront will result in beach erosion and flooding
  during the times of high tide, with localized damage possible
  to dune structures.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...If heavy rainfall coincides during the time
  of high tide, this would increase the potential for minor street
  flooding in coastal areas.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Do not drive through flooded roadways.

* WHAT...Up to one half foot of inundation above ground level
  expected in vulnerable areas near the waterfront and shoreline.

* WHERE...In Connecticut, Southern Fairfield, Southern New
  Haven, Southern Middlesex and Southern New London Counties. In
  New York, Southern Westchester County.

* WHEN...Late tonight.

* COASTAL FLOOD IMPACTS...Brief minor flooding of the most
  vulnerable locations near the waterfront and shoreline due to
  elevated water levels. Breaking waves of 3 to 5 ft during the
  times of high tide may cause localized damage to dune structures
  and wave splashover onto shoreline roads and properties.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...If heavy rainfall coincides during the time
  of high tide, this would increase the potential for minor street
  flooding in coastal areas.
