...FLOOD WARNING FOR AN ICE JAM NOW IN EFFECT UNTIL 9 PM CST THIS
EVENING...

* WHAT...Flooding caused by an ice jam continues. Rapid fluctuations
  in water levels are possible.

* WHERE...Portions of east central and northeast Nebraska, including
  the following counties, in east central Nebraska, Butler. In
  northeast Nebraska, Platte.

* WHEN...Until 900 PM CST Friday.

* IMPACTS...Flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying
  and flood-prone locations is imminent or occurring. The formation
  of an ice jam could result in sudden rises of water, leading to a
  rapid flooding situation. Ice jams can cause water level
  fluctuations of 1 to 3 feet over a very short time period and
  without much notice.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
  - At 848 AM CST, water levels at Columbus have started to fall,
    they remain elevated and Highway 30 west of Columbus remains
    closed.
  - Flooding is occurring along the Loup River.
  - Some locations that will experience flooding include...
    Areas along the Loup River on the extreme south side of
    Columbus.


PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Turn around, don`t drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the
dangers of flooding.

Please report observed flooding to local emergency services or law
enforcement and request they pass this information to the National
Weather Service when you can do so safely.
