from 1000 fm to 250 nm offshore.

Seas given as significant wave height, which is the average
height of the highest 1/3 of the waves. Individual waves may be
more than twice the significant wave height.

Locally higher winds and seas can be expected in and near tstms.

.SYNOPSIS FOR MID ATLC WATERS...Tropical Storm Dexter, currently
centered E of the outer northern waters, will move well E into
the Atlantic tonight and Wed. See the latest advisory from the
National Hurricane Center. Otherwise, a stationary front will
continue over the far S waters tonight through Wed while slowly
weakening. High pressure will build just N of the area tonight
into Thu, then shift E of the region Fri through Sun night while
maintaining a ridge just N of the area. Weak low pressure will
gradually develop just S of the waters Wed and Wed night, slowly
drift NW across the area Thu into Fri, and then turn more N to
NE Sat into Sun. The National Hurricane Center currently lists
this system with a medium chance of acquiring tropical
characteristics, and a tropical depression could form later in
the week into the weekend. The NAVTEX station at Chesapeake, VA,
is inoperative. Technicians are investigating.
