The pressure gradient between this system and lower pressure E of Florida supports fresh to strong NW winds across the eastern Gulf, including the Straits of Florida. Rough seas are within these winds forecast to diminish to gentle to moderate speeds by tonight. High pressure will continue to build across the basin through Fri while moving eastward. On Fri, southerly return flow will set-up across the western Gulf ahead of the next cold front that is slated to enter the northwestern Gulf on Sat, producing widespread fresh to strong N to NW winds and rough seas in its wake.
