...WINTER STORM WARNING IN EFFECT FROM 2 AM SUNDAY TO NOON MDT
MONDAY...

* WHAT...Heavy snow expected. There is a likelihood of major winter
  weather impacts. Total snow accumulations up to 1 inch below 3000
  feet, 2 to 5 inches in the higher valleys, 6 to 12 inches in the
  mountains. The Cabinet and Purcell mountains could receive a total
  of 12 to 18 inches. Gusty easterly winds 25 to 35 mph with gusts
  to 40 mph, though gusts to 50 mph are possible in the higher
  elevations.

* WHERE...Highway 2 Kalispell to Libby, Highway 56 Bull Lake Road,
  Highway 37 Eureka to Libby, and Highway 93 Eureka to Whitefish.

* WHEN...From 2 AM Sunday to noon MDT Monday.

* IMPACTS...For MAJOR winter weather impacts, expect considerable
  disruptions to normal activities. Dangerous or impossible
  traveling conditions in the backcountry. Avoid travel in the
  impacted areas if possible. The strong winds and weight of snow on
  tree limbs may down power lines and could cause sporadic power
  outages.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...A period of snow combined with easterly winds
  will create a low-end risk for slick spots on roadways, especially
  between Happy`s Inn and Marion Sunday evening.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

If you must travel, keep an extra flashlight, food, and water in
your vehicle in case of an emergency. The latest road conditions for

NOON MDT MONDAY...

* WHAT...Heavy snow and blowing snow expected. There is a likelihood
  of major winter weather impacts. Isolated extreme winter storm
  impacts in the mountains. Total snow accumulations of 1 to 4
  inches in the valleys, 5 to 9 inches Essex to Marias Pass, and 10
  to 20 inches in the mountains. East winds 15 to 25 mph with gusts
  to 45 mph. Ridgetop easterly winds 35 to 45 mph with gusts to 60
  mph.

* WHERE...Marias Pass, Polebridge, Essex, and Glacier National Park
  higher elevations including Going-to-the-Sun Road and Logan Pass,
  Highway 83 Bigfork to Swan Lake, Bad Rock Canyon.

* WHEN...From 6 PM this evening to noon MDT Monday.

* IMPACTS...Winter traveling conditions. For MAJOR winter weather
  impacts, expect considerable disruptions to normal activities.
  Dangerous or impossible traveling conditions. Avoid travel in the
  impacted areas if possible. Widespread closures and disruptions to
  infrastructure may occur. The hazardous conditions could impact
  the Monday morning commute, especially over higher passes. Blowing
  snow will reduce visibility to less than one mile at times between
  Marias Pass and Essex.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Heaviest snow is expected late Saturday night
  into Sunday morning. A flash freeze of wet roadways is possible
  Saturday night and again Sunday night. The strong winds and weight
  of snow on tree limbs may down power lines and could cause
  sporadic power outages.
