Fire Weather Planning Forecast for Wrn Montana and N Cntrl Idaho
National Weather Service Missoula MT
334 AM MDT Sun Jun 30 2024

.DISCUSSION...

Idaho (Zones 102 and 103): Steady light to moderate rainfall will spread
across north-central Idaho this morning and early afternoon. Wetting
rains will be mostly favored for the districts north of Highway 12,
where there is a 40-50% probability for up to 0.25" by sunset this
evening. The region will remain under a northwesterly flow pattern
through mid-week, leading to seasonable temperatures and mostly dry
conditions. 80% of ensemble forecast guidance suggests the return of
above-normal temperatures and below-normal precipitation to end the
week through next weekend.

Northwest MT (Zones 104 and 105): Steady light to moderate rainfall will
spread across northwest Montana this morning and early afternoon.
Wetting rains will be mostly favored for the districts north of the I-90
Corridor, where there is a 50-60% probability for up to 0.25" by sunset
this evening. The Flathead NF will have around a 50% probability of
receiving up to 0.50" during the same period. The region will remain
under a northwesterly flow pattern through mid-week, leading to
seasonable temperatures, with daily showers mostly focused along the
Divide in the Flathead NF. 80% of ensemble forecast guidance suggests
the return of above-normal temperatures and below-normal precipitation
to end the week through next weekend.

West Central MT (Zones 106, 107 and 108): Periodic light rainshowers
will move through the region during the late morning and afternoon
hours. Wetting rains will be mostly focused across the West Lolo, where
there is a 60% probability for up to 0.25" through this evening. There
will be a 30-40% probability for thunderstorms developing across the
rest of the districts between 1500-1900 local, bringing spotty wetting
rains to some. The region will remain under a northwesterly flow pattern
through mid-week, leading to seasonable temperatures, with daily
showers mostly focused in the most eastern areas of the East Lolo. 80%
of ensemble forecast guidance suggests the return of above-normal
temperatures and below-normal precipitation to end the week through next
weekend.

Southwest MT (Zones 109, 110 and 111): Scattered showers and
thunderstorms are expected to develop over the Beaverhead/Deerlodge NF
this afternoon and evening between 1500-1900 local. Gusty winds in
excess of 40 mph, along with small hail and brief heavy rain can be
expected up these thunderstorms. Districts east of the I-15 corridor
have the highest probability (60-70%) of seeing wetting rains through
this evening. The region will remain under a northwesterly flow pattern
through mid-week, leading to seasonable temperatures, along with daily
showers. 80% of ensemble forecast guidance suggests the return of above-
normal temperatures and below-normal precipitation to end the week
through next weekend.
