.DISCUSSION...
Idaho (Zones 102 and 103): Near record warmth today, with scattered
showers and isolated thunderstorms by late afternoon and evening. South
winds will develop by late morning, with gusts of 15-25 mph through this
afternoon. The highest gusts will focus across Hells Canyon Region and
the Red River and Salmon River Districts. A series of weather systems
will bring much cooler temperatures, widespread wetting rains, and
mountain snow above 4,500 feet this weekend into early next week.
Northwest MT (Zones 104 and 105): Abnormally warm today, with southerly
winds developing by this afternoon. Scattered showers and isolated
thunderstorms by late afternoon and evening. A stark cooling trend is
expected this weekend, as a Pacific system brings widespread wetting
rains Saturday night into Sunday, with snow falling down to 5,000 feet.
A colder system arrives Sunday night into Monday, with snow falling down
to valley floors, and widespread mountain snow.
West Central MT (Zones 106, 107 and 108): Near record warmth today,
with scattered showers and isolated thunderstorms by late afternoon
and evening. Light east-southeast winds this morning will become southerly
this afternoon with gusts near 15-20 mph. A stark cooling trend is
expected this weekend, as a Pacific system brings widespread wetting
rains Saturday night into Sunday, with snow falling down to 5,000 feet.

to 3,500-4,000 feet, and widespread mountain snow.
