.DISCUSSION...

KEY MESSAGES:

- Warm and dry weather for the first part of next week

- Brief reprieve in hot temperatures on Thursday as a weak cold
front increases wind and thunderstorm chances.

A weak disturbance passing along the NW Montana/Canadian border
will bring increased chances for showers and isolated
thunderstorms today. The main threat will be along and east of
Highway 93 from the Flathead valley to the Continental Divide.
Elsewhere, seasonable temperatures and overall dry conditions are
anticipated.

High pressure will begin to build over the region for Monday and
Tuesday, bringing a warming trend and dry weather. Tuesday will
likely be the warmest day of the week, running roughly 10 degrees
above normal for this time of year. Tuesday afternoon and evening
may see a few thunderstorms develop, mainly across southwest
Montana and through southern Idaho and Lemhi counties.

Ensembles agree on a disturbance flattening the ridge later
Wednesday into Thursday. High temperatures return to seasonable
levels by Thursday. Shower/thunderstorm chances and breezy
westerly winds also return Wednesday afternoon into Thursday,
especially along the Divide and Canadian border.

Hot and mostly dry conditions are expected Friday into next
weekend as the ridge bumps back up. Weak disturbances in
southwest flow open up the potential for a few thunderstorms in
this pattern.

.AVIATION... Patchy fog has formed across portions of northwest
Montana, including in the vicinity of KGPI. Brief periods of

northwest Montana. Other areas will primarily be dry. Breezy
westerly winds are anticipated this afternoon for terminal sites,
with gusts up to 20 kts.
