Fire Weather Planning Forecast for East Tennessee...Southwest
Virginia...and Extreme Southwest North Carolina
National Weather Service Morristown TN
1241 AM EST Mon Dec 1 2025

.DISCUSSION...

Dry today before widespread rain moves back into the Tennessee
valley and southern Appalachians tonight and Tuesday. High chance
that most areas will see at least 0.5 inches of rain. Moderate
chance that most areas see closer to 0.75 inches.

Gusty mountain winds also expected late tonight into Tuesday
morning. Isolated locations will likely see advisory level gusts
to 40 mph, but low confidence on how widespread it will be. Will
hold off on a Wind Advisory for the east TN mountains and
foothills until another round of Hi-Res model data comes in.

Also, freezing rain is likely across the far northeast Tennessee
mountains tonight into Tuesday morning. A few hundredths of an
inch of ice are possible, minor impacts expected. Then, light
snow Tuesday morning into afternoon for parts of southwest
Virginia, northern Plateau, and far east Tennessee mountains.
Accumulations less than 1 inch, little to no impacts.

Drier conditions for Wednesday and Thursday.
