819 NOUS43 KMQT 161450 PNSMQT MIZ001>007-009>014-084-085-212100- Public Information Statement National Weather Service Marquette MI 1050 AM EDT Fri May 16 2025 /950 AM CDT Fri May 16 2025/ The National Weather Service office in Marquette will be conducting a required, scheduled update to their Advanced Weather Interactive Processing System (AWIPS) May 19 through May 21, 2025. The NWS uses the AWIPS computer system to display and integrate weather and water information, and to send life-saving information, such as weather and water warnings, to the public. During the time of the update, forecast operations will be conducted by our service back-up office in Gaylord, Michigan, to minimize any potential interruption to services. No impacts to core services of forecast products and weather watches, warnings and advisories are expected to occur. However, the follow services will be impacted by the required, scheduled update to AWIPS that will occur at the National Weather Service in Marquette May 19 through May 21, 2025. - NOAA Weather Radio All Hazards: All NOAA Weather Radio transmitters maintained by the National Weather Service in Marquette will be off the air for the entirety of the update. This includes the following transmitters in Michigan: Copper Harbor, Houghton, Marenisco, Crystal Falls, Marquette, Escanaba, Munising, Grand Marais, Manistique, and Newberry. - May 21st NOAA Weather Radio Weekly Test: The NOAA Weather Radio Weekly Test scheduled for Wednesday, May 21st will not be conducted. The NOAA Weather Radio Weekly Test will resume with the next regularly scheduled test on Wednesday, May 28th. - Local Forecast Graphics: Some local forecast graphics available on the National Weather Service Marquette web page will be unavailable for the entirety of the update. This required, scheduled update to AWIPS at the National Weather Service in Marquette will occur regardless of ongoing or expected weather conditions in the area May 19 through May 21, 2025.
