Issued by NWS Marquette, MI
791 FNUS53 KMQT 170702 FWFMQT FIRE WEATHER PLANNING FORECAST FOR UPPER MICHIGAN National Weather Service Marquette MI 302 AM EDT Thu Apr 17 2025 ...ELEVATED FIRE WEATHER CONDITIONS POSSIBLE TODAY FOR SNOW FREE AREAS IN THE FAR EAST... .DISCUSSION: Strong south to southeasterly winds will be able to mix to the surface today thanks to daytime temperatures climbing into the 50s and 60s and a strong low level jet overhead. Increasing moisture through the day for the snow free spots of the west and central though should limit fire weather concerns. In the east, where the moist airmass will be slower to rule, elevated conditions where the snowpack has already melted will be possible thanks to RH values falling to or below 30%. This afternoon into tonight, a wave of showers with embedded thunderstorms will lift northeast into the region. High RH and a second round of precip look likely Friday afternoon/evening as well. Widespread 0.25 to 1.0 inch of rain looks likely this afternoon through early Saturday.
