...FIRE WEATHER WATCH FOR PORTIONS OF WESTERN AND SOUTHWESTERN
MINNESOTA LATE MONDAY MORNING THROUGH MONDAY EVENING...
.DISCUSSION...
Elevated fire weather conditions are present this afternoon due to
RH in the 30s, however weak winds are the limiting factor
generally under 10mph out of the southeast. Elevated to near-
critical conditions are likely tomorrow with dew points dropping
quickly behind a dry cold front arriving by noontime in western
Minnesota. Winds will be sustained at 15-20mph gusting up to 30mph
in portions of western MN as RH drops to the low 20s, with the
main uncertainty being getting gusts exceeding 30mph frequently
enough to achieve Red Flag conditions. The risk for Red Flag
conditions decreases east of a line from St. Cloud to Mankato as
the lowest humidity and strongest winds along the front arrive
after temperatures begin cooling near or after sunset.
