.DISCUSSION...
Issued at 158 AM CDT Wed Apr 16 2025

Surface high pressure will settle into the region today as upper
ridging slides eastward through the Plains. This will keep mostly
clear conditions across the forecast area, with highs warming into
the mid to upper 70s this afternoon. Overnight lows will be a bit
cool once again tonight, as clear skies and calm winds aid in
radiational cooling. Thus, expect lows to fall into the 40s by
daybreak on Thursday. The remainder of the forecast period will be
much like today, with high pressure maintaining its hold on the
sensible weather pattern. Temps will moderate over the next couple
of days, with highs in the upper 70s to lower 80s and overnight
lows in the 50s. Temps will approach 90 degrees over the weekend,
as the upper ridge moves over the forecast area. Given drier air
in place, no heat related concerns are anticipated.

Rain chances will increase Sunday night and Monday, as a trough
swings into the Mississippi Valley. There`s slightly better
agreement among the guidance in terms of the evolution of the
trough, which looks to eject to the northeast and well north of
the area. The trough will help push a cold front through the
forecast area, though there are uncertainties with the timing of
this front. For now, will keep chance pops in for Monday through
Tuesday. /73
