.DISCUSSION...
As Hurricane Erin, east of the Carolinas, lifts farther north-
northeast, a deeper offshore flow develops across the area today and
Friday. This will pull in increasing moisture across the area
leading to higher rain chances (around 60-70%) as scattered to
numerous showers and storms shift eastward across east central
Florida and offshore into the afternoon and early evening. This
wetter pattern is forecast to continue into the weekend, with
afternoon/early evening shower and storm chances remaining around
70% as a front settles into and stalls across north Florida. Hot and
humid conditions will persist today and Friday, with highs in the mid
90s for much of east central Florida today and low to mid 90s
tomorrow. Peak heat index values will reach around 102-107 degrees
ahead of any showers and storms each day through late week.
Winds will start off out of the west-southwest around 5-10 mph each
morning. The east coast sea breeze should be able to develop, but
will likely be pinned toward the coast. Where it is able to shift
inland along the coast, winds will become onshore, generally out of
the east-southeast around 10 mph. Dispersion values will range from
Good to Very Good today and Very Good to Excellent on Friday, with
no Min RH concerns forecast.
Fog potential and other remarks...Widespread fog is not forecast.
However, localized visibility reductions due to smoke from new or
existing fires will be possible even if fog is not forecast.
