Fire Weather Planning Forecast for East Central Florida
National Weather Service Melbourne FL
300 PM EDT Mon Jun 30 2025

.DISCUSSION...

High coverage of showers and lightning storms will continue each day
through late week and into the weekend, as deep moisture remains in
place. Even with occasional early initiation, highest coverage
should continue to be during the afternoon/evening periods. Storms
will be slow-moving and the strongest will be capable of frequent
lightning strikes, wind gusts locally up to 50 mph, small hail, and
torrential downpours, especially along the sea breeze collision in
the evening. Surface ridge axis of high pressure over central
Florida, though some fluctuation is expected, and will cause winds
to veer from southeast, south of the ridge axis, to southwest/south
to the north of this feature. Expect the sea breeze south of
Melbourne to develop quicker, while slower to the north and
gradually pinned near the (Volusia) coast this afternoon. Light
transport winds this afternoon will contribute to Poor to Fair
afternoon smoke dispersion, increasing a bit Tuesday/Wednesday and
improving to Generally Good. Warm and humid conditions with
afternoon highs in the upper 80s to low 90s, and peak heat indices
in the 90s this afternoon and upper 90s to low 100s Tuesday.

Fog potential and other remarks...Widespread fog is not forecast.
However, localized visibility reductions due to smoke from new or
existing fires will be possible even if fog is not forecast.
