...Patchy Black Ice Risk Overnight across Parts of Eastern North
Carolina...

As temperatures fall below freezing through the night, residual
moisture on area roadways and bridges may freeze, leading to
patchy black ice. The greatest risk appears to be across northern
sections of eastern North Carolina. This includes the Highway 64
and Highway 264 corridors, as well as parts of the Highway 17
corridor.

Thin sheets of ice, called black ice, may be difficult to see,
especially during the pre-dawn hours. They may appear to be wet
spots on the road. Motorists will have a difficult time
determining which spots are just wet and which are icy.
