...NWS Meteorologists Currently Surveying Storm Damage Near
Wanchese in Dare County North Carolina...

The National Weather Service office in Newport/Morehead City NC
is currently conducting a storm survey for the area near Wanchese
in Dare County North Carolina. The survey is in relation to the
severe thunderstorms that moved through the area on May 15 2025.

The storm survey preliminarily found EF0 damage with top winds of
75 to 80 miles per hour. A final assessment including results of
the survey are expected to be completed and transmitted via a
Public Information Statement by later tonight.

The storm survey information will also be available on our
website at http://www.weather.gov/mhx
