Fire Weather Forecast for southern Oregon and northern California
National Weather Service Medford, OR
230 PM PDT Tue Jul 2 2024

...RED FLAG WARNING IN EFFECT FROM 11 PM WEDNESDAY TO 8 AM PDT
THURSDAY FOR OREGON FIRE ZONES 619 AND WESTERN 620 FOR GUSTY EAST
WINDS AND POOR OVERNIGHT HUMIDITY RECOVERY...

...Near critical fire weather possible today through the next week
for much of southern Oregon and northern California...

.DISCUSSION...A strong thermal trough will remain in place through
early Thursday, bringing moderate to locally poor recoveries to
ridges along with gusty northeast winds to the Coast Range tonight
and Wednesday night. Meanwhile, gusty afternoon winds and low
humidities will lead to elevated, near critical, fire weather
conditions. Strong high pressure develops for the latter half of
the week, bringing very hot temperatures and very low daytime
humidities through at least the weekend. While afternoon breezes
will not be quite as strong as today and Wednesday, the extreme heat,
and long duration of the heat will allow even typical afternoon
breezes to result in dangerous conditions favorable for the rapid
spread of fire.
