760 FNUS54 KMAF 061727 FWFMAF Fire Weather Planning Forecast for West Texas/Southeast New Mexico National Weather Service Midland/Odessa TX 1227 PM CDT Wed Aug 6 2025 .DISCUSSION... Min RH falls near to below critical 15% southwest of Pecos River at times through next week, but fuel ERCs remain below the 75th percentile and green from frequent rains this past June and July, while winds outside of any showers/storms remain light during the daytime. Therefore, apart from lightning strikes and gusty, erratic winds in a stray shower/storm into late week and this weekend, low fire weather conditions are forecast. Showers/storms increase over western higher terrain by next week but this will be accompanied by cooler temperatures and fuels will be slow to dry out despite hot temperatures. Therefore, expect low fire weather conditions to persist. && For point-specific forecasts please see the Point Fire Weather Matrix product issued by the Midland/Odessa National Weather Service Office.
