Fire Weather Planning Forecast for West Texas/Southeast New Mexico
National Weather Service Midland/Odessa TX
252 AM CST Fri Feb 28 2025

.DISCUSSION...

Fire weather concerns will remain low across the region today with
lighter winds and minimum RH values expected to remain above
critical levels. Minimum RH may drop back below critical
thresholds along and west of the Guadalupe and Davis Mountains on
Saturday, but 20 foot wind speeds are forecast to remain relatively
light. We are still expecting elevated to critical fire weather
conditions Sunday into early next week as temperatures trend
warmer with very low RH and increased westerly winds. The most
critical fire weather day still looks to be on Tuesday, when a
storm system passing over the central plains looks to bring very
windy conditions to much of our forecast area along with
critically low RH values.
