The National Weather Service in Midland has issued a

* Dust Storm Warning for...
  South central Eddy County in southeastern New Mexico...

* Until 445 PM MDT.

* At 245 PM MDT, a dust channel was affecting US 285 near Carlsbad,
  as well as the surrounding area.

  HAZARD...Less than a quarter mile visibility with strong wind in
           excess of 40 mph.

  SOURCE...Trained weather spotters.

  IMPACT...Dangerous life-threatening travel.

* US Highway 285, US 62, and other roads in the area may be
  affected.

Locations impacted include...
Brantley Lake State Park, Carlsbad, Avalon, Lake Avalon, Otis, Cavern
City Air Terminal, Carlsbad North, Living Desert State Park, Loving,
Seven Rivers Airport, Malaga, and Lakewood.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Dust storms lead to dangerous driving conditions with visibility
reduced to near zero. If driving, avoid dust storms if possible. If
caught in one, pull off the road, turn off your lights and keep your
foot off the brake.
