The National Weather Service in Midland has issued a

* Dust Storm Warning for...
  Northern Eddy County in southeastern New Mexico...
  West central Lea County in southeastern New Mexico...

* Until 800 PM MDT.

* At 703 PM MDT, a wall of dust was along a line extending from near
  Maljamar to near Brantley Lake State Park to 15 miles north of
  Carlsbad Caverns National Park, moving west at 40 mph.

  HAZARD...Less than a quarter mile visibility with damaging wind in
           excess of 60 mph.

  SOURCE...Satellite imagery.

  IMPACT...Dangerous life-threatening travel.

* Highway 285 between Carlsbad and Artesia and Highway 82 will be
  impacted.

Locations impacted include...
Monument, Lea County Zip Franklin Memorial Airport, Loco Hills,
Artesia, Artesia Municipal Airport, Avalon, Maljamar, Seven Rivers
Airport, Dayton, Lakewood, Brantley Lake State Park, Halfway, Atoka,
Lake Avalon, Lovington, Hope, Carlsbad North, Living Desert State
Park, and Carlsbad.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Dust storms lead to dangerous driving conditions with visibility
reduced to near zero. If driving, avoid dust storms if possible. If
caught in one, pull off the road, turn off your lights and keep your
foot off the brake.
