.DISCUSSION...
Issued at 116 AM CDT Mon Aug 4 2025

Skies were partly cloudy to mostly clear this morning with temps
holding in the 60s and 70s. By dawn, most places should fall into
the 60s, however an isolated valley location or locations could
reach upper 50s. Sky conditions today should become mostly sunny.

Not many changes are anticipated over the next several days to a
week. Aloft, an upper ridge will remain over portions of the Four
Corners, potentially wobbling as far E as the Srn Rockies. Locally,
some meridional component of NW flow will be in place through the
upcoming weekend.

At the surface, winds should stay E/NE through Tuesday as high
pressure remains to the N and E of AR. A new surface low is progged
to develop over the plains by Wednesday, this will switch winds back
around the S/SW across the region. No significant upper level
impulses are expected to move through the flow over the next seven
days thus organized rain chances appear minimal. With limited PoP
chances expected, soil moisture will decline over the week.

Temperatures, both lows/highs, will slowly moderate through the
week. Today, high temps should top out in the lower 80s to around
90 degrees and by the weekend highs should top out in the lower to
middle 90s. Lows by the weekend should largely be in the 70s.

For August 4th, here are some of the daily average lows/highs at the
following locations, Harrison 68/90, Little Rock 71/93, Pine Bluff
72/92, and Monticello 73/93, respectively. Basically over the next
couple of days, temperatures should be slightly below to near
climatological average. Afterwards, temperatures will moderate
back to and above average for this time of year. Still, not bad
when compared to the last several weeks of observed T`s/apparent
T`s. No heat headlines are expected during the forecast period at
this time.
