A potent low pressure system looks to cross the region later today bringing a continued threat of accumulating snow through late evening. Moderate to heavy snow mixing with sleet will continue over the next 2 hours across the event location. The precipitation will gradually lighten later this morning into mid-afternoon. Before the lull in precipitation arrives expect continued visibility reductions of less than 2 miles. Visibility values will improve somewhat with intermittent light sleet and snow showers later this morning into midday. Air temperatures will hold steady in the upper 20s through the afternoon. Additional snow is likely later this afternoon into this evening as low pressure crosses the region. The next period of light to moderate snow looks to move back over the event locations between 4pm to 11pm. Snowfall rates of up to 0.5 inch per hour are possible with additional snow accumulations of 1 to 3 inches. This is on top of the current 5 to 6 inch amounts over the event location and surrounding area as of 9am this morning. Precipitation will come to an end after midnight with low temperatures falling down around 20 degrees. Winds will increase late tonight into Tuesday in the wake of the departing low pressure system. Expected gusts between 20 to 25 mph during this time. Cold and dry conditions are expected Tuesday with highs around freezing. Winds will remain on the gusty side of things out of the north and northwest with gusts up to 30 mph. Some blowing snow is possible in open areas due to the gusty winds. Cold temperatures and breezy conditions will persists through midweek. Another system may impact the region late Friday into Saturday. .REST OF TODAY...
