While much of the day has been cloudy with temperatures holding steady in the low/mid 60s, recent satellite imagery shows a number of breaks in the clouds moving toward Washington, D.C. This should allow for some peeks of sunshine later this afternoon, accompanied by rising temperatures. Forecast highs this afternoon should reach the mid 70s which comes with a further uptick in humidity levels. As this occurs, some pop-up showers are possible which may even include a rumble of thunder for any strong shower. However, these should be rather isolated in nature with much of the focus for storms well to the west of the metros. A warm front which tracks through with this afternoon`s warm up will settle near the Pennsylvania/Maryland state line this evening into tonight. A mild night will be store for the D.C. area with lows in the low/mid 60s. By Sunday, a slow moving cold front will slowly move in from the west. This increases the chances for showers and a few thunderstorms on Sunday. Overall, Sunday definitely looks rather unsettled given the periods of rain showers. Much cooler weather arrives for early next week as the pattern change unfolds. .REST OF TODAY... Sky/weather.........Cloudy (85-95 percent). Isolated showers and thunderstorms late in the afternoon.
