...New AVIATION...

.SHORT TERM...
(Today and tonight)
Issued at 223 AM CDT Sun Oct 6 2024

Not much to talk about in the short term of the forecast. A
weakening cold front will move into the southwest Panhandle where it
will become stationary. It may lower highs in the area around
Friona and Dimmitt from the upper 80s seen Saturday to lower to mid
80s today. Otherwise, light winds and mostly clear skies can be
expected. Temperatures will once again push to near the 90 degree
mark this afternoon and then fall back to mostly 50s overnight by
early Monday morning.

.LONG TERM...
(Monday through Saturday)
Issued at 223 AM CDT Sun Oct 6 2024

The forecast area will remain under the influence of the persistent
upper level ridge centered to our west over the desert southwest.
The beginning of the long term portion on Monday will be in a weak
post-frontal air mass but with surface winds already swinging back
around to south by afternoon. In addition, a relative weakness in
the ridge that day will lead to lower thicknesses and in turn
slightly lower high temperatures. Warming kicks back in Tuesday with
above normal temperatures continuing through the end of the
period.
