431 FZUS63 KMQT 191453 GLFLS Open Lake Forecast for Lake Superior National Weather Service Marquette MI 953 AM EST Sun Jan 19 2025 For waters beyond 5 nautical miles of shore on Lake Superior. Waves are the significant wave height - the average of the highest 1/3 of the wave spectrum. Occasional wave height is the average of the highest 1/10 of the wave spectrum. .SYNOPSIS...Throughout today, Lake Superior will be between high pressure of up to 31 inches over Alberta and low pressure of around 29.6 inches over the East Coast. The East Coast low will keep 30.2 inch troughing over the eastern end of Lake Superior through Monday afternoon as near-31 inch high pressure moving over the High Plains extends up to 30.5 inch ridging over western Lake Superior. By Tuesday night, the high pressure will slide towards Kentucky/Tennessee, weakening to 30.7 inches while a 29.7 inch clipper low develops over the Canadian Prairie. The low will weaken to around 30 inches by Wednesday night as it passes near Lake Superior Thursday.
