DISCUSSION:

A dry air mass will remain in place through Friday, then a cold
upper level low pressure system will move over the region over the
weekend. There is a 60-70 percent chance of rain for the Southland
between Saturday and Sunday. Due to the position of the storm, there
is a low chance (10-20 percent) of thunderstorms between Saturday
evening and Sunday evening. The most likely rainfall totals will
range from a tenth to quarter inch north of Point Conception to a
quarter to a half inch south of Point Conception. Local amounts up
to 1 inch are possible along the south facing slopes of the San
Gabriel mountains.
