...STRONG NORTHEAST TO EAST WINDS OVER THE SOUTHERN COASTAL WATERS
AND EAST FACING HARBORS MONDAY NIGHT THROUGH TUESDAY AFTERNOON...

Northeast winds will increase over portions of the nearshore
waters south of Point Conception, and the outer waters south of
Santa Rosa Island starting Monday afternoon, affecting nearshore
areas from Ventura to Santa Monica, and out past Santa Cruz and
Anacapa Islands. Gale force gusts of 35 to 40 knots are expected
Monday night through the mid afternoon hours Tuesday. There is a
chance that winds will increase to storm force from Oxnard to
Malibu early Tuesday between midnight and 10 AM. Steep, choppy
seas of 3 to 6 feet are expected to result from the strong winds,
increasing up to 8 feet further offshore. In addition, winds of
20 to 30 knots are likely across the San Pedro Channel, affecting
Avalon Harbor, along with steep seas of 3 to 5 feet.

These conditions have a history of vessel damage and loss of
life. Mariners should avoid these areas, or remain in safe harbor
until conditions improve. Avalon Harbor should NOT be considered
safe harbor during this event.
