.DISCUSSION...
A surge of subtropical moisture from a remnant tropical system will
continue to bring a slight chance (10-20 percent) of showers across
LA county today, with the thunderstorm threat now expected to remain
east of LA county. Gusty northwest to north winds with potential peak
gusts of 35 to 50 mph across wind-prone interior areas and southern
Santa Barbara County will be likely at time from late this afternoon
through Saturday night. While humidity levels will remain elevated
across the interior slopes, there will likely be some downslope drying
with humidites falling to between 20 and 30 percent in some of the
windier locations on Saturday and Saturday night, such as portions of
southern Santa Barbara county,LA/Ventura county mountains Santa Clarita
Valley, and western San Fernando Valley. As a result, these areas will
likely experience some elevated fire weather concerns on Saturday into
Saturday night. By Sunday, the flow will shift to the northeast,
mainly focusing on eastern Ventura county and western LA counties,
where wind gusts of 20 to 40 mph will be likely. This coupled with
humidities between 12 and 25 percent will bring widespread elevated
fire weather conditions across the mountains and valleys of eastern
Ventura county and western LA county on Sunday.
There is the potential for a significant storm system that could bring
widespread rain to the region sometime between Monday night and
Wednesday, with most of the rain likely falling on Tuesday. While
the threat of significant flash flooding/debris flows over recent burn
scars is low, it is not zero.
