128 FNUS73 KLOT 061322 FWSLOT Spot Forecast for Northeast Prairie 2...USFS National Weather Service Chicago IL 822 AM CDT Sun Apr 6 2025 Forecast is based on ignition time of 0900 CDT on April 06. If conditions become unrepresentative, contact the National Weather Service. Please contact our office at (815) 834-0666 if you have questions or concerns with this forecast. .DISCUSSION... A surface high will continue to build into the area today resulting in rain-free conditions. Dew points this morning will improve some before deeper mixing commences late morning/early afternoon allowing us to tap into a plume of drier air moving inland from Lake Michigan and thus lowering RH values into the 30-35% range. Winds will generally be out of the northeast today with speeds around 5-10 mph but directions will become more southwesterly this evening as the high pivots overhead. An upper disturbance will swing through the area on Monday with an associated cold front bringing with it a period of scattered snow showers during the morning and early afternoon hours. Though little to no accumulation is expected aside from a dusting on grassy surfaces. Temperatures ahead of the front may briefly warm into the mid to upper 30, but will cool through the day with temperatures forecast to be in the upper 20s by Monday evening. Winds behind the front will also become gusty out of the northwest with speeds sustained at 15-20 mph and gusts up to 30 mph. .REST OF TODAY... Sky/weather.........Partly cloudy.
