Fire Weather Planning Forecast For Northern IL and Northwest IN
National Weather Service Chicago/Romeoville IL
431 PM CDT Fri Apr 11 2025

.DISCUSSION...

High pressure will continue to build into the area tonight keeping
dry conditions around through Saturday. The rest of this afternoon
will remain mostly sunny aside from some diurnal cumulus clouds
with temperatures generally in the lower to mid-50s away from the
lake. With dew points forecast to remain in he mid to upper 20s,
RH values should remain around 30-35% through sunset with
northeast winds around 10-15 mph. Similar conditions are expected
for Saturday but with slightly warmer temperatures in the upper
50s to lower 60s inland and lower 50s near the lake. RH values
will still dip into the 30-35% range inland (around 40% near the
lake), but winds will vary with directions out of the southwest
away from the lake and southeasterly along the lakeshore. Speeds
will regardless be in the 10-15 mph.

While many dry hours are expected on Sunday, there is a 20% chance
for isolated to widely scattered showers Sunday morning through
mid-afternoon mainly for areas along and north of I-80. Despite
the showers and more cloud cover which will lower mixing heights
and raise RH values into the 50% range, temperatures should still
peak in the mid to upper 60s. Winds though will be out of the
south with 20-25 mph gusts through the afternoon. A few showers
are forecast to linger into Monday morning before drier weather
returns through the middle of next week with seasonably warm
temperatures in the 50s and 60s.
