Fire Weather Planning Forecast For Northern IL and Northwest IN
National Weather Service Chicago/Romeoville IL
226 PM CST Wed Nov 19 2025

.DISCUSSION...

Low-level stratus trapped under a gradually lowering inversion
will likely persist through Thursday and possibly into Friday.
With the resulting limited mixing and slight moisture advection
from south to southwest winds on Thursday, afternoon minimum RH
values will likely remain higher than 70 percent.

A low pressure system tracking along the Ohio River Valley
Thursday night through Friday will bring rain chances across
central Illinois, with a vast majority of the rain remaining well
south of I-80. However, isolated high-based showers may expand as
far north as much of northern Illinois Friday afternoon and
evening.

High pressure will bring dry conditions, seasonably warm
temperatures, and afternoon RH values in the 45 to 55 percent
range Saturday through Monday. Unsettled weather is expected on
Tuesday before a period of much colder conditions by Thanksgiving.
