Fire Weather Planning Forecast For Northern IL and Northwest IN
National Weather Service Chicago/Romeoville IL
1053 AM CST Fri Feb 28 2025

.DISCUSSION...
A Red Flag warning has been issued for areas south of the
Kankakee River for this afternoon due to the very dry and windy
conditions.

Dry and very mild conditions are expected today, with strong and
gusty winds. Winds will initially be from the southwest ahead of a
cold front, but will eventually shift northwest later this
afternoon and evening behind the front. Peak gusts of 40 to 50 mph
are expected. Temperatures will reach the mid to upper 50s in
many spots today, with low to mid 60s south of I-80. Lowest
afternoon humidity levels may dip to around 25 percent south of
I-80 and especially farther south toward U.S. Highway 24.

Colder, more seasonable, conditions are expected over the weekend
with lighter but still blustery winds.
