Fire Weather Planning Forecast for Central Kentucky and Southern Indiana
National Weather Service Louisville KY
328 PM EDT Thu Oct 16 2025

.DISCUSSION...High pressure centered over the Great Lakes today will bring
east-northeast winds across the area, keeping temperatures a few degrees
cooler than previous days. A combination of modest transport winds and
relatively shallow mixing depths will limit dispersion parameters on
Friday. Afternoon relative humidity values will also be somewhat
elevated, falling into the 40s in many locations. A stronger storm
system will move across the region Saturday evening into Sunday
morning, bringing gusty winds along with showers and thunderstorms.
A few thunderstorms Saturday evening could be strong. Total
rainfall amounts are expected to range from 0.75" to 1.75" in
most locations.
