OPEN LAKE FORECAST for Lake Michigan
National Weather Service Milwaukee/Sullivan WI
347 PM CST Mon Dec 1 2025

FOR WATERS BEYOND FIVE NAUTICAL MILES OF SHORE ON Lake Michigan.

Waves are provided as a range of significant wave heights, which
is the average of the highest 1/3 of the wave, along with the
average height of the highest 10% of the waves which will
occasionally be encountered.

.SYNOPSIS...

Steady southerly winds will become west to southwest late tonight
and Tuesday as an area of high pressure of 30.2 inches moves
through the Ohio Valley.

A strong cold front along a low pressure trough averaging 29.8
inches will cross Lake Michigan Wednesday. Gusty southwest winds
are expected ahead of this front early Wednesday morning, with
gusty northwest winds behind it Wednesday afternoon and night.
Winds are expected to remain just below gale force, although a few
gale force gusts look possible. Very cold air with this system
will result in a risk for freezing spray Wednesday night and
Thursday.

Light winds are expected Thursday with the influence of high
pressure of 30.4 inches over Illinois and Indiana. Another period
of elevated southwest winds will occur Thursday night into Friday
as another low pressure trough around 29.8 inches crosses the
Upper Great Lakes.
