OPEN LAKE FORECAST for Lake Michigan
National Weather Service Milwaukee/Sullivan WI
851 AM CDT Sat Apr 19 2025

FOR WATERS BEYOND FIVE NAUTICAL MILES OF SHORE ON Lake Michigan.

Waves are provided as a range of significant wave heights, which
is the average of the highest 1/3 of the wave, along with the
average height of the highest 10% of the waves which will
occasionally be encountered.

.SYNOPSIS...

Drier conditions and lighter northerly winds are expected today
as high pressure around 30.2 inches begins to build in from the
west. Variable winds are expected overnight tonight as the high
pushes over Lake Michigan and builds to around 30.5 inches. High
pressure quickly shifts eastward on Sunday as low pressure lifts
into the area from the southern Plains. Expect increasing east to
northeasterly winds to develop Sunday as Lake Michigan sits in
between the departing high and an approaching low. As the low
pressure lifts northeastward across the northern half of Lake
Michigan, it will deepen to around 29.5 inches Monday with
southerly winds ahead of it during the day then becoming northwest
behind it Monday night. Higher waves are expected on to accompany
the breezier southerly winds, particularly across the central
half of the lake.
