...NWS Damage Survey for 05/14/2025 Landspout Event...

A family of landspouts developed across central Lincoln County and
portions of far south central McPherson County during the evening
hours on May 14, 2025. There were attempts by the parent
thunderstorm to transition to mesocyclonic, however the
landspouts remained weak and caused no reportable damage. Several
of the landspouts were fleeting, but only to reappear moments
later. Undoubtedly, not all landspouts were accounted for in this
survey. Additionally, supercells developed across portions of
western and north central Nebraska. Large hail, heavy rainfall and
very strong winds were reported. A line of storms developed over
northeastern Colorado and produced near hurricane strength winds
across portions of southwest Nebraska. Chase and Perkins Counties
were especially hit hard by those winds. All of the storms were in
response to an advancing cold front and a disturbance that moved
northeast across the central high plains. The atmosphere
was moderately unstable which led to rapid storm development.
