.DISCUSSION...
Elevated fire weather conditions are expected this afternoon
across portions of the Nebraska Panhandle into northern Nebraska,
mainly Zones 204 and 208. Today`s concerns are largely driven by
above average temperatures and low relative humidity, with highs
in the mid to upper 90s and humidity values in the 15 to 25
percent range. However, winds are generally expected to remain
under 20 mph this afternoon. A wind shift is expected along with a
cold front this evening, with the cold front also introducing the
potential for showers and thunderstorms.
An active pattern develops this weekend, with an upper level
trough across the Great Lakes and an upper level high across the
Desert Southwest bringing northwesterly flow aloft across western
Nebraska. This pattern is expected to bring cooler temperatures
across the region, and near daily chances of precipitation across
western and southwestern Nebraska. In fact, temperatures early
next week are expected to be 10 to 15 degrees below seasonal
average.
